What is your role at Watermark Plumbing and Drains?
I am the owner of Watermark Plumbing and Drains!
What are your primary responsibilities?
I lead the overall direction of Watermark Plumbing and Drains by setting the vision, building the team, and (most importantly) making sure we do everything we can to earn a lifetime customer with every call.
How long have you been an employee of Watermark Plumbing and Drains?
As the founder, I’ve been an employee since day one – starting by doing a job or two on the side after my “regular” workday, and eventually quitting my job to focus on Watermark full time.
How long have you been in the plumbing industry?
I started working for my first plumbing company back in 2012, where we focused on new construction of custom homes and mid-sized commercial projects. I then moved to a company in 2017 that worked on both small and large-scale plumbing service – ranging from dripping faucets in Grandma’s house to full stainless-steel pipe replacements in the Campbell’s Soup factory. I passed my Red Seal Certification in 2018 and started Watermark Plumbing and Drains shortly after, in 2019.
How did you become interested in plumbing as a career?
I took a bit of a backwards route into the trades, only going to trade school after spending 3.5 years studying Sociology at the University of British Columbia. Once I finally learned that Sociology wasn’t for me, I came back to Toronto and went to George Brown College for a general trades course. During my time learning about the plumbing side of the trades, I realized it was something I wanted to pursue as a career.
What are your specialties within the trade?
While I spend a lot more time in the office than in people’s homes these days, I’ve always been a strong problem solver with tougher issues that aren’t easily diagnosed. Taking the time to work through a problem fully has allowed me to come to the correct conclusion much more often than not.
Share a memorable moment or achievement from your professional journey.
One night after a major rainstorm, as I took the family dog out once more before bed, I saw literal panic out on the streets. During the storm, the sewers had backed up into a series of lower-level townhouses, filling them knee-deep with water. People were trying desperately to bail out their homes like a sinking ship, to no avail. I spent the rest of the night helping out my neighbours any way that I could.
In the coming days, I became known as the “local plumber” in the neighbourhood. I was able to help many of my neighbours with all sorts of different issues that arose. They shared stories with me about tradespeople who had been in their homes after the flooding, using all sorts of scare tactics in an attempt to get their business. It was then that I saw a major gap in trust – people simply can’t trust the very tradespeople they invite into their homes. After that event, I decided I was going to start a business that would take the exact opposite approach, with the goal of educating as much as possible and letting customers make their own decisions.
Tell us about a plumbing-related challenge you successfully solved that you’re particularly proud of.
One of the best moments, soon after starting Watermark Plumbing and Drains, was the very first time we clearly saw the effects of doing the right thing for our customers.
We had an elderly woman, who must have been close to 90 years old, reach out to us and ask for a second opinion on a plumbing issue she was having in her basement with her overflowing toilet. She was overwhelmed with emotion because the plumbing company that was there earlier that day told her that she would need to spend close to $15,000 to replace all of her drains, and that she couldn’t use any water in the house until that happened.
As it turned out, the only issue she had was with the toilet itself, which we were able to get fixed for just a couple hundred dollars. Once we solved the issue for her, she cried again (tears of joy this time), and we could feel her relief. We now have these moments more often than I care to say, but it’s always nice to know that we’re truly doing what’s best for the customer.
What is the greatest strength you possess that makes you an asset to our team and customers?
My greatest strength is the ability to see both sides of the business – not only what it takes to get the work done properly in the field, but also what it takes to manage an organized, successful company behind the scenes.
When you’re not busy fixing pipes, what are your favorite hobbies or interests?
Outside of work, I most enjoy spending time with my family at the cottage and getting away to golf with my friends.
Share a fun fact or quirk about yourself that your colleagues and customers might find interesting.
Once upon a time, I was an elite-level baseball player who could throw a 97 mph fastball. I also have a black belt in karate.
Are there any community or charity activities you’re passionate about or involved in?
My wife Angela and I are proud to say we’ve done quite a bit for charity over the years, starting back in 2020 when we raised over $25,000 for the Daily Bread Food Bank through the production of “Candy Chutes” over Halloween.
More recently, Angela and I have started the “Smile Drive,” which is an initiative to provide handwritten holiday cards, letters, and drawings to the residents of long-term care homes in Toronto (and put a smile on their faces in the process). As of this writing, we’ve rallied our community to create more than 28,000 pieces for residents around the city.
What do you hope to achieve personally and professionally in the next 5 years?
Professionally, I want to continue growing Watermark into the most trusted residential plumbing company in Toronto. Personally, I’m focused on my health, continuing to be present with my family, and breaking 80 in my golf game.

Plumbing Technician
What is your role at Watermark Plumbing and Drains?
I’m a plumbing technician, handling a mix of service calls, installations, and diagnostic work.
What are your primary responsibilities?
My responsibilities include troubleshooting plumbing issues, performing repairs and installations, completing rough-ins, maintaining water systems, and ensuring every job meets safety and quality standards.
How long have you been an employee of Watermark Plumbing and Drains?
I’ve been with Watermark Plumbing and Drains since February of 2024, but I’ve been able to quickly adapt to the company’s systems and expectations.
How long have you been in the plumbing industry?
I’ve been in the plumbing industry for about 7 years.
How did you become interested in plumbing as a career?
I got into plumbing because I enjoy hands-on work and problem-solving. Plumbing felt like the perfect mix of technical skill, physical work, and helping people in a real way.
What are your specialties within the trade?
My specialties include service plumbing, diagnosing tricky issues, installing hot water tanks, rough-ins for both residential and commercial projects.
Share a memorable moment or achievement from your professional journey.
One memorable moment was completing a full plumbing system rough-in on a custom home from start to finish. Seeing everything come together and pass inspection with no revisions felt like an accomplishment.
Tell us about a plumbing-related challenge you successfully solved that you’re particularly proud of.
A challenge I am really proud of for successfully solving, was a diagnostic issue related to hot water and cold water mixing. Even the client thought it was the hot water tank, but after carefully isolating the issue to a faulty shower valve cartridge, the solution was pretty simple and only required a cartridge replacement. These diagnoses prevented a pointless hot water tank replacement and was a very low cost fix!
What is the greatest strength you possess that makes you an asset to our team and customers?
My greatest strength is my ability to stay calm and think clearly when diagnosing problems. I’m efficient, reliable, and committed to doing the job right the first time.
When you’re not busy fixing pipes, what are your favorite hobbies or interests?
Outside of work, I enjoy fishing, spending time with my daughter, and getting outdoors whenever I can.
Share a fun fact or quirk about yourself that your colleagues and customers might find interesting.
I can usually figure out a plumbing issue just by listening to what the system is doing—it’s become a bit of a sixth sense.
Are there any community or charity activities you’re passionate about or involved in?
I try to stay involved in community events when I can, especially anything that supports families or local youth programs.
What do you hope to achieve personally and professionally in the next 5 years?
Over the next 5 years, I plan to expand my certifications, and continue building stability for myself and my family.

Weekend Dispatcher
Stacey Rodas
Weekend Dispatcher
What is your role at Watermark Plumbing and Drains?
I’m the Weekend Dispatcher, but you’ll also sometimes see me providing weekday coverage as needed. 🙂
What are your primary responsibilities?
My goal is to provide top-tier customer service with the intent to have every customer be a lifelong one who also recommends us to friends/family. I also focus on strategic scheduling based on plumber skills, job location, and other key factors. Timely communications and administrative work are also important to boost the company’s visibility and keep the business running smoothly. Lastly, ongoing learning and personal development within the plumbing industry is very important to me!
How long have you been an employee of Watermark Plumbing and Drains?
Before I joined this fantastic 5-star-rated company, I was a happy customer of theirs! And since July 2025 I’ve had the privilege of helping other customers with the same care and skill that I received from Watermark.
How long have you been in the plumbing industry?
I’m new to it and I love it! I learn a dozen new things about the trade daily.
How did you become interested in plumbing as a career?
This is a flexible and family-friendly place to work and, as a mom of a young son, I was looking for that.
I’ve also always been the type to watch a documentary movie over a sci-fi or a thriller and to choose nonfiction books over fiction, so it just tracks that I love learning about how things work and about the real world around me. And it doesn’t get more real than plumbing! (I found out just how real it gets when my shower broke; after Watermark fixed it, I followed them on social media and saw them post a Weekend Dispatcher job, so I decided to apply. The rest is history!)
What are your specialties within the trade?
My specialties are Communications, Marketing, and Public Relations.
My personal elevator pitch has always been to “make people’s lives more liveable and loveable”, and I carry that everywhere I go, including Watermark.
Share a memorable moment or achievement from your professional journey.
Probably meeting the one-and-only William Shatner back when I worked at Rogers and I was fresh out of university. Not only did I meet him, I helped him [I’m sensing a theme here around helping ;)]. His button popped off his jacket before he was about to go onstage with the Chief Marketing Officer. They were about to make the first-ever video-to-video call in Canada in front of a huge crowd of journalists. I sewed it back on for him in record time… Talk about a high-pressure situation! And talk about using every skill you have. (I never thought knowing how to sew would matter in my Public Relations career. You never know when a skill may come in handy!)
Tell us about a plumbing-related challenge you successfully solved that you’re particularly proud of.
Helping a customer with their main stack replacement booking from start to finish, and then being specifically named alongside my colleagues in their positive review. 🙂 It’s such a nice feeling to see something all the way through, and then hear how well it went afterwards. I’m just one part of the team, but the way we work together really completes the whole experience for our customers.
What is the greatest strength you possess that makes you an asset to our team and customers?
I’ve worked at several non-profits over the years, and I think my drive to help people and my caring nature is front and center no matter where I go. I get a little jolt of joy when I see a job marked “completed” and then see a review from that happy customer. It’s a beautiful thing!
When you’re not at work, what are your favorite hobbies or interests?
I’ve been dabbling in 3D printing, and I regularly supply 3D-printed plant pots to my local flowershop for them to make into beautiful floral arrangements!
If I had unlimited time, money, and resources, I’d learn more languages and then travel to the corresponding countries where those languages are primarily spoken!
Share a fun fact or quirk about yourself that your colleagues and customers might find interesting.
I can speak a little bit of Tagalog! My husband is Filipino and he moved to Canada when he was 16.
Are there any community or charity activities you’re passionate about or involved in?
I’m on my child’s school’s Parent Council and I was the Co-Planner for their 2025 Fun Fair. To see all those kids smiling and having a great time was beyond rewarding.
What do you hope to achieve personally and professionally in the next 5 years?
To find new ways to connect human-to-human in a world full of technology. When used to our advantage, I think technology can bring us closer. When used to our detriment, it can push us apart.
I want to use all this new technology to build my knowledge and understanding, but I also never want to prioritize it over the human aspect of the work we do.
